The Molecular Secrets and Outstanding Properties of Phenyl Silicone Oil

Hits: 277 img

Phenyl silicone oil, as the "nobility" of the organic silicone material family, is essentially the product obtained by replacing some of the methyl groups in methyl silicone oil with phenyl groups. This unique molecular structure modification gives it far superior core strength compared to ordinary silicone oil.
From an appearance perspective, phenyl silicone oil is usually presented as a colorless to pale yellow transparent oily liquid. Its core performance advantage lies in its extremely wide temperature resistance range. Thanks to the effective protection of the phenyl group, conventional phenyl silicone oil can maintain stable viscosity even under extreme temperature differences of -50°C to 300°C, and can withstand up to 350°C for a short period without decomposition, with extremely low volatilization loss. Meanwhile, products with low phenyl content can have a freezing point as low as -70°C, remaining fluid in extremely cold environments.
In addition to excellent thermal stability, phenyl silicone oil also possesses excellent chemical inertness and electrical insulation properties. It does not react with acidic or alkaline substances, has outstanding antioxidant, UV resistance, and aging resistance capabilities, and has a service life far exceeding traditional lubricants. In terms of electrical performance, it has a very high volume resistivity and breakdown strength, and has extremely low dielectric loss. Moreover, phenyl silicone oil has a high refractive index (approximately 1.470 - 1.533), low surface tension, which gives it good luster and compatibility, and endows it with natural advantages in the optical and cosmetic fields.
