In daily life, have you ever been amazed by the soft touch of certain clothes, or the smooth and shiny appearance of your hair after washing? Behind this often lies a "behind-the-scenes hero" - amino silicone oil.
Amino silicone oil, with the chemical name of amino-modified polysiloxane, is an organic silicon compound that introduces amino (-NH₂) functional groups onto the molecular chain of ordinary silicone oil. It is this tiny amino group that gives it extraordinary properties. Compared to ordinary silicone oil, amino has extremely strong polarity and reactivity, and can firmly adhere to the surface of fibers or hair, forming a uniform, long-lasting and breathable protective film.
In the textile industry, amino silicone oil is the core component of high-end softening agents. It can significantly reduce the friction coefficient between fibers, enabling cotton, wool, silk and even synthetic fiber fabrics to achieve fluffy, smooth and soft textures, while enhancing wrinkle resistance and washability. In the personal care field, it is widely used in shampoos and conditioners, not only smoothing the hair cuticles, making the hair soft and easy to comb, but also providing excellent anti-static effects and reducing the embarrassment of "frizzing".
Although amino silicone oil has outstanding performance, when using it, a balance of "ammonia value" needs to be achieved: the higher the ammonia value, the better the softness, but excessive use may cause the fabric to turn yellow. Therefore, scientific proportioning is crucial. This "softness magician" is using its unique chemical charm to silently enhance our quality of life.
