Fluorosilicone oil - a special lubricant resistant to chemical corrosion

Hits: 354 img

Fluorosilicone oil is an organosilicon compound with fluorinated alkyl side chains introduced onto the siloxane backbone. It combines the high and low temperature resistance of organosilicon materials with the excellent chemical resistance and hydrophobic and oleophobic properties of fluorinated compounds. As a result, fluorosilicone oil performs exceptionally well in extreme environments and is widely used in high-end fields such as aerospace, electronic packaging, and chemical equipment.
Compared with ordinary silicone oil, fluorosilicone oil has a stronger resistance to fuels, lubricating oils, solvents, and strong acids and bases. For instance, in the sealing system of aircraft engines, fluorosilicone oil can operate stably over a wide temperature range from -50°C to 200°C and resist the erosion of aviation kerosene and hydraulic oil. Additionally, it has an extremely low surface tension and excellent anti-fouling, water-repellent, and oil-repellent properties, making it suitable for protective coatings on precision instruments.
However, fluorosilicone oil is relatively expensive and difficult to process, and is usually only selected when ordinary silicone oil cannot meet the requirements. In recent years, with the development of new energy vehicles and semiconductor manufacturing, fluorosilicone oil has also shown new potential in applications such as battery sealants and photoresist additives.
In conclusion, fluorosilicone oil is a representative of high-performance specialty lubricating and protective materials. Although it is "niche", it is indispensable in key fields.
