Water-soluble silicone oil is a key auxiliary agent in the post-treatment process of textiles. It modifies the traditional polysiloxane through hydrophilic groups such as polyethers or amines, enabling it to be miscible with water in any proportion. This characteristic completely resolves the problems of water-repellency and dullness of fabrics after traditional silicone oil treatment, bringing about a brand-new treatment effect. 
Its core function is primarily manifested in its outstanding softness and smoothness. The silicone oil molecules can be arranged directionally on the surface of the fibers, forming a flexible membrane, which significantly reduces the friction coefficient between the fibers. This results in a smooth and plump feel for the treated fabric, and thin fabrics can achieve a silk-like texture, while thick fabrics present a wool-like stiffness. Secondly, it endows the fabric with long-lasting hydrophilicity and breathability. The treated fabric has a small contact angle, enabling instantaneous absorption of dripping water, while maintaining good breathability. This solves the shortcomings of synthetic fibers being uncomfortable to the skin and not absorbing sweat, greatly enhancing the wearing comfort. Moreover, it also has excellent anti-static and shrinkage resistance properties, making the fabric less prone to dust accumulation and with good dimensional stability. It is particularly suitable for shrinkage prevention treatment of wool and other fabrics. 
In terms of application process, water-soluble silicone oil has excellent compatibility and can be easily applied through the dip-coating or impregnation process. It can also be used in the same bath with resins, with a simple process and high stability. There is no risk of demulsification or oil leakage. Therefore, it has become an indispensable core material for developing high-end, comfortable and easy-to-care textiles.
