Bis-end alkoxyhydroxy silicone oil is a type of organic silicone polymer with special functional groups. Its chemical structure core consists of a polysiloxane main chain (-Si-O-Si-) and both ends of the molecular chain carry alkoxyhydroxy (-OH) active groups. The general formula can be expressed as HO-(R₂SiO)ₙ-H (R is mostly methyl, and some are modified groups such as phenyl). This structural design retains the classic advantages of silicone oil while endowing it with reactivity through the presence of alkoxyhydroxy groups, making it an important category of organic silicone materials with both flexibility and functionality. 
From the core characteristics, bis-end alkoxyhydroxy silicone oil inherits the low surface tension, high temperature resistance (usually -50°C to 200°C), weather resistance, and excellent lubricity of polysiloxane. The presence of the alkoxyhydroxy groups also gives it good reactivity and compatibility. It can undergo cross-linking reactions with isocyanates, epoxy resins, organic acids, etc., to form more superior polymers; it can also blend well with rubber, resin, etc., to improve the mechanical properties and usage experience of the materials. Moreover, by adjusting the number of silicon-oxygen linkers in the molecular chain (n value), its viscosity (from a few centipoises to tens of thousands of centipoises) can be flexibly controlled to meet the requirements of different application scenarios. 
In terms of preparation, the industrial process mostly adopts hydrolysis condensation method: using dichlorosilane or alkoxysilane as raw materials, hydrolysis generates siloxane oligomers with alkoxyhydroxy groups, and then through controlling the condensation reaction conditions, specific viscosity and alkoxyhydroxy content of bis-end alkoxyhydroxy silicone oil can be obtained. The product has high purity and uniform molecular weight distribution, meeting the strict requirements of high-end material processing. 
Its application scenarios are very extensive: in the rubber industry, as a structural control agent for silicone rubber, it can improve the processing fluidity of the rubber compound, enhance the tear resistance and aging resistance of the products; in the coatings and adhesives field, used as a modifier, it can enhance the water resistance, wear resistance and adhesion of the coating, or improve the flexibility and high-low temperature resistance of the adhesive; in the textile and leather industry, it can be used as an intermediate for softening treatment, giving the fabric and leather a smooth feel while enhancing their wrinkle resistance and washability; in addition, it is often used to prepare functional products such as organic silicone modified resins, defoamers, and release agents, and is an indispensable key additive in the chemical and materials fields.
