Organic silicone gel, as a high-performance material, is increasingly widely used in the coating field. Its unique chemical structure endows coatings with various outstanding properties, significantly enhancing the functionality and durability of the coatings.
1. Enhancing the protective performance of the coating
Organic silicone gel forms an elastic rubber-like waterproof layer, giving coatings excellent impermeability, high-temperature resistance, and weather resistance. For example, in organic silicone waterproof coatings, its elongation rate can reach 200%-300%, which can adapt to the shrinkage and cracking deformation of the base layer, effectively solving building leakage problems. At the same time, organic silicone modified coatings can withstand temperatures above 600°C, suitable for boilers, exhaust pipes, etc. in high-temperature environments. Moreover, its hydrophobicity and chemical corrosion resistance further strengthen the long-term protection of the substrate, with a lifespan of 20-50 years.
2. Improving the construction experience and environmental friendliness
Organic silicone gel coatings mostly use water-based single-component systems, supporting cold construction methods such as scraping, brushing, or spraying, and are adaptable to damp substrates. They are non-toxic and odorless, meeting environmental protection requirements. For example, adding a small amount of organic silicone additives to ink or water-based coatings can significantly reduce the friction coefficient of the coating, provide a smooth feel, and prevent adhesion. These additives can also reduce surface tension, enhance leveling performance and substrate wetting, and reduce coating defects.
3. Expanding functional application scenarios
Through molecular design, organic silicone gel can be compounded with other resins to give coatings special functions. For example, low surface energy brush-shaped organic silicone molecules can make the coating have anti-fouling and anti-adhesion properties; silicone rubber topcoats with conductive titanium dioxide added have both conductive properties and high adhesion, suitable for insulation protection of electronic equipment. Moreover, its waterproof and anti-corrosion performance in fields such as bridges and underground engineering further demonstrates the value of "one material for multiple uses".
