Silicone: The "Flexible Foundation" in the Field of Robotics

Hits: 498 img

In the current era of rapid development in robotics technology, silicone, with its unique properties, has become a key material for enhancing the reliability and adaptability of robots.
Its protective function is particularly crucial. The precise circuits and sensors inside robots are sensitive to the environment, and silicone-made sealants and coatings can form a dense protective film, blocking moisture, dust, and corrosive substances. In humid workshops where industrial robots operate or in rainy and snowy environments faced by outdoor inspection robots, it can significantly reduce the probability of component failures.
In terms of moving parts, silicone elastomers play an important role. Robot joints need to rotate flexibly, and the seal rings made of silicone have both flexibility and wear resistance, reducing mechanical friction losses and being able to withstand the fatigue of long-term reciprocating motion. At the same time, silicone lubricants are suitable for high and low temperature conditions, ensuring smooth joint operation of polar exploration robots or high-temperature operating robots.
In the field of human-machine interaction, silicone is also indispensable. The "skin" of service robots uses silicone rubber materials, which is soft to the touch and biocompatible, avoiding the hard feeling when in contact. In addition, the combination of the light transmission and insulation properties of silicone can be used for the encapsulation of the flexible display of robots, protecting internal components while not affecting visual interaction.
