Key Applications of Ethyl Silicone Rubber in the Aerospace Field

Hits: 516 img

Ethyl silicone rubber, due to its outstanding performance in withstanding high and low temperatures, radiation resistance, and chemical stability, has become an indispensable key material in the aerospace industry. In extreme environments, it can maintain elasticity within the temperature range of -60°C to 250°C, perfectly adapting to the drastic temperature changes of spacecraft from the ground to space.
In the sealing system of spacecraft, the sealing rings and gaskets made of ethyl silicone rubber can effectively prevent gas exchange between the cabin and the outside, withstand the corrosion of chemical substances such as propellants, and ensure stable cabin pressure. At the connection points of satellite solar panels, the insulating sheaths made of it can resist long-term radiation from cosmic rays and high-energy particles, ensuring safe power transmission.
The nozzle linings of rocket engines often use reinforced ethyl silicone rubber composite materials. By utilizing its heat shock resistance, it can buffer the instantaneous high temperatures generated by fuel combustion. Additionally, at the joint sealing areas of spacesuits, this material combines flexibility and sealing performance, providing astronauts with freedom of movement while isolating the vacuum environment of space.
With the development of aerospace technology, the modification research of ethyl silicone rubber continues. By adding ceramic powder and other fillers, its upper limit of heat resistance has been expanded to over 300°C, further expanding its application space in frontier fields such as deep space exploration.
