Analysis of the Advantages of the Application of Organic Siloxanes in Release Agents 1.0

Organic silicon release agents, due to their unique molecular structure and physical-chemical properties, have become a key material in modern industrial molding. Their application advantages cover multiple aspects such as release efficiency, product quality, process compatibility, and environmental friendliness.
1. Outstanding thermal stability and weather resistance
The organic silicon molecules are mainly composed of Si-O bonds, with bond energies much higher than those of carbon-based compounds. This enables them to maintain structural stability even in high-temperature environments. Experimental data shows that the organic silicon release agent can continue to function at temperatures above 300°C without decomposition, while traditional organic release agents start to carbonize and precipitate at around 150°C. This characteristic makes it the preferred choice for high-temperature molding processes. For example, in the vulcanization process of automotive tires, the organic silicon release agent can withstand a molding temperature of over 180°C, ensuring the surface finish of the product and avoiding frequent cleaning due to the adhesion of thermal decomposition products on the mold.
II. Ultra-low Surface Tension and Efficient Film Formation
The hydrophobic nature of the terminal methyl groups in organic silicon molecules gives them extremely low surface tension, allowing them to spontaneously form a uniform film on the mold surface. Taking methyl silicone oil as an example, its surface tension is only 21 mN/m, which is much lower than that of paraffin-based demolding agents (34 mN/m). This enables the organic silicon demolding agent to penetrate the fine structures of the mold and achieve non-destructive demolding of precision products. In the field of electronic component packaging, this property can prevent epoxy resin from penetrating into the gaps of metal leads, significantly improving product yield.
III. Long-lasting Demolding and Economy
Non-migratory silicone release agents form a durable film layer through cross-linking and curing. A single coating can support 5 to 10 demolding cycles. Taking the tire molding process as an example, using silicone resin release agents can extend the mold's service life by more than three times and reduce downtime for maintenance. Although their unit price is higher than that of traditional release agents, the overall cost is reduced due to the decrease in usage and the improvement in efficiency. In mass production, it demonstrates significant economic advantages.
