Introduction to the mold silicone rubber molding process

Due to its unique properties, mold silicone rubber is widely used in mold making in many fields. Its molding process includes several key steps.
The first is raw material preparation. Mold silicone rubber usually exists in a two-component form, component A is silicone, and component B is a curing agent. When using, it needs to be mixed in a specific ratio. For example, 100 grams of silicone is often added with 2 grams of curing agent, and it must be stirred evenly, otherwise the mold will be partially cured and partially uncured, which will greatly affect the service life of the mold and the number of mold re-molding, and even cause the mold to be scrapped.
Then vacuuming and air bubble removal treatment is carried out. The uniformly mixed silicone and curing agent need to be vacuumed to remove bubbles. However, the vacuuming time should not be too long, normally not more than ten minutes, otherwise the silicone will quickly solidify and produce a cross-linking reaction, becoming lumps and cannot be used for brushing or pouring, resulting in material waste.
Then comes the brushing or pouring stage. Before pouring silicone, the product or model to be copied needs to be applied with a release agent or isolation agent. For complex or detailed products, the brushing method is often used. The vacuumized silicone is evenly brushed on the surface of the product. After 30 minutes, a layer of gauze fiber cloth is pasted to enhance strength and tension, and then a layer of silicone is brushed and gauze fiber cloth is pasted. For smooth or simple products, the mold can be poured. The product is surrounded by a plastic plate or glass plate, and the vacuumized silicone is directly poured in. After drying and forming, the product is taken out, and the mold is completed. Generally, softer silicone is used to facilitate demolding and avoid damage to the product in the mold.
The production of the outer mold cannot be ignored. Common methods include surrounding the mold with a plastic plate or a wooden board, and then filling the mold frame with plaster, or using resin brushing, repeatedly brushing and pasting two or three layers of fiberglass cloth to complete the outer mold production. In this way, a complete set of mold silicone rubber molding process is completed.
