In the application field of silicone rubber, rubber oil plays a unique and important role. It can give silicone rubber products self-lubricating properties, improve their surface characteristics, and thus enhance the comprehensive performance and use experience of the product.
Rubber oil is usually composed of specific silicone oil and other additives. Silicone oil components represented by phenyl silicone oil are the key to achieving self-lubricating effects. When the rubber oil is evenly dispersed in the silicone rubber system, under certain conditions, the silicone oil will gradually migrate to the surface of the silicone rubber and form a lubricating film on the surface of the product. This lubricating film can not only significantly reduce the friction coefficient of the product surface, making the product feel smoother, but also improve the surface finish, making the product appearance smoother and more beautiful. At the same time, it can reduce the adsorption of impurities such as dust on the surface of the product, and play a role in dust prevention and anti-sticking.
In the automotive industry, rubber oil is widely used in products such as automotive circuit seals. When the car is running, the seals need to withstand various complex environments. The glue oil gives the seals good self-lubrication, ensuring that they can fit tightly during installation, and maintain good sealing performance and aging resistance in long-term use, effectively avoiding sealing failure caused by friction and aging, and ensuring the stable operation of the car's electrical system. In the field of electronic appliances, glue oil is used to seal silicone rubber connectors. Its continuous and stable oil yield allows the wiring harness to easily pass through the connector, greatly facilitating the production process operation. At the same time, it ensures that the connector has good sealing in different environments, avoids short circuits and other faults caused by the intrusion of water vapor, dust, etc., and ensures the reliable operation of electronic equipment.
It should be noted that when using glue oil, if too much silicone oil is added, it will destroy the molecular weight of silicone rubber, resulting in problems such as acid and alkali resistance and aging resistance in the product. Generally speaking, the recommended amount of silicone oil added is no more than 5% - 10%. In addition, when the rubber oil comes into contact with high-concentration strong acid or strong base substances and Lewis acid, it tends to degrade and volatilize, and the higher the temperature, the more obvious the reaction; when it comes into contact with low-concentration strong acid or strong base, or under high temperature for a long time, the viscosity may increase and even cross-link. Therefore, during storage, transportation and use, it is necessary to strictly follow the relevant specifications, avoid contact with these substances, and control the ambient temperature.
