Application of polyether silicone oil in papermaking industry

Hits: 713 img

In the complex process of papermaking industry, polyether silicone oil has shown excellent application value in many aspects, which has greatly promoted the development of papermaking technology and the improvement of paper quality.
In the papermaking process, polyether silicone oil plays a key role as a defoamer. In the papermaking process, due to mechanical stirring, adding various additives and other operations, a large amount of foam is easily generated in the pulp suspension. If these foams are not eliminated in time, they will affect the uniform distribution of pulp, resulting in defects such as holes and pinholes in the paper, which seriously affects the quality of paper. Polyether silicone oil has extremely low surface tension and can quickly diffuse to the foam surface, destroy the liquid film stability of the foam, and cause the foam to break quickly. Its fast defoaming speed and long anti-foaming time effectively ensure the continuity and stability of the papermaking process and greatly reduce the defective rate.
In the post-processing stage of paper, polyether silicone oil performs well in the field of paper softeners. The surface of paper fiber is relatively rough, and the feel is poor when directly contacted. Cationic polyether silicone oil can strongly adsorb to the negatively charged surface of paper fibers because of its cationic groups such as quaternary ammonium salts. The polysiloxane segment of polyether silicone oil has good flexibility and low surface energy, and can form a soft and smooth protective film on the fiber surface, significantly improving the feel of the paper, making the paper soft and fluffy, and improving the comfort of paper. At the same time, this adsorption can also enhance the bonding force between fibers, improve the strength of paper to a certain extent, and reduce the risk of paper damage during use.
In addition, polyether silicone oil can also be used to improve the antistatic properties of paper. During the production and use of paper, static electricity is easily generated due to friction and other reasons. Static electricity can cause paper to adsorb and stick to each other, affecting the processing and use of paper. The polyether segment in polyether silicone oil is hygroscopic and can absorb moisture in the air to form a conductive film on the surface of paper, which can remove static electricity in time, effectively reducing the interference of static electricity on paper production and use, and improving the efficiency and quality of paper processing.
