The degradation of polymer chains causes the resin-based composite materials to age rapidly. Fumed silica can strongly reflect ultraviolet rays. Adding it to epoxy resin can greatly reduce the degradation of epoxy resin by ultraviolet rays, thereby achieving the purpose of delaying material aging.
